Julian and Bjørk win in Sandur

Julian Gregersen of Treysti and Bjørk Herup Olsen of Bragdið were fastest when the second round of the MBM Winter Series 2026–27 was run in Sandur on Saturday 7 November. Julian won the men’s race in 28:27.1, while Bjørk won the women’s race in 35:09.0.

Tindar and Bragdið organised the second round of the MBM Winter Series, which this time was run in Sandur. The start and finish were by the sports hall, and the course was just under nine kilometres.

The runners first went a short way up into Traðardalur, before the route ran past Sandsvatn and out onto Eystanvegur. The turning point was at Visit Sandur, from where the runners headed back towards the finish. The course is relatively flat and has a total of around 73 metres of climb.

Julian fastest among the men

Julian Gregersen of Treysti won the men’s race in 28:27.1. In recent years Julian has been among the leading long-distance runners in the Faroe Islands, and his win in Sandur once again confirmed his high level.

In the first round, which was run at Kerjar in Havnardalur on 24 October, the winner was Rógvi Kárason of Bragdið. With Julian’s win in Sandur, there have therefore been two different winners in the first two rounds.

Bjørk wins again

In the women’s race it was once again Bjørk Herup Olsen of Bragdið who was fastest. She crossed the line in 35:09.0, taking her second win in two rounds.

Bjørk also won the first round in Havnardalur, where she ran 37:42.9. With two wins, she has made a very good start to the Winter Series.

Young runner on the long course

One of the notable performances in Sandur came from young Jónatan Gregersen, who, despite being in the children’s category, ran the full nine-kilometre course.

In addition, one recreational runner took part and ran five kilometres. No one took part in the planned 500-metre children’s race.

Rógvi and Bjørk lead the Winter Series

After two rounds, Rógvi Kárason is still leading the men’s open category with 97 points, while Bjørk Herup Olsen has a maximum score of 100 points in the women’s category.

In the junior categories, Ísak Kolden and Elia Mouritsen lead with 100 points each. Among the veterans, Sigurd av Reyni and Maria Chun Nielsdóttir are in front, while Óli Joensen and Ann Thomsen lead the super-veterans. Among the ultra-veterans, Josvein Herup Olsen and Una Højsted are in the lead.
