On Saturday 22 September at 15:00, Treysti is organising a different kind of run on Kalsoy. This is not a race but a run from Syðradalur to Trøllanes, passing through four tunnels.
If there is enough interest, it may well become a race next year.
The run starts at 15:00. The “Sam” sails from Klaksvík at 14:15 to Syðradalur, where the run starts at the new ferry terminal and heads north to Trøllanes. The course is 16-17 kilometres long and goes through all four tunnels. Participants are therefore asked to bring a torch or a head torch. The stretch before the first tunnel is about 7 kilometres. Of the rest of the course, the greater part, about 5.5 kilometres, is in tunnels.
There will be an overnight stay on Kalsoy, so after the run participants can spend a pleasant evening together in the house of Mikladals Sóknar Fráhaldsfelag in Mikladalur, where food will also be served. The price for accommodation and food is DKK 150, payable in cash on arrival in Mikladalur. As for the overnight stay, participants are asked to bring a sleeping bag. It is possible to get home in the evening if you wish, as the “Sam” sails from Syðradalur at 22:20 to Klaksvík.
Everyone is welcome to take part. To register, send an email to treysti@treysti.fo or call Guttorm Sørensen on mobile 230210 by Thursday evening 20 September at 22:00 at the latest.
Weather permitting, Klaksvík Municipality plans to open the new football pitch in Mikladalur on the same day, and the plan is for the participants in the run to be part of the opening celebrations.
