On Saturday 9 February the Faroese Cross-Country Championships will be held in Toftir. In this type of race, the running takes place across open hillside pasture. This is the fifth time FÍF has organised the Faroese Championships in this event.

The route
The race will be held at the so-called “Stovugólvið” on the hillside pasture just above and to the north of the grass pitch at Svangaskarð. Runners will complete several laps of a loop of about 800 m.
The whole race takes place within a fenced-off area. The ground, which is pasture, is well levelled, although a few short slopes have been built into the route to make it more interesting.

Children, adults and veterans
There will be races in various age groups for men and women.
Boys and girls (born 1994–1996) run about 1.6 km
Junior men and women (born 1991–1993) run about 4 km
Adults (born 1990 or earlier) and veterans (born 1962 or earlier) run about 8 km.
The competition is open to members of any of the five athletics clubs. The start is at 11:00

Registration and fee
Registration is here on the website by 21:00 on Friday evening, 8 February.

The entry fee of DKK 50 is paid when collecting your bib number at the start at 10:30 on Saturday morning.

Runners are advised to change before they arrive and to bring dry clothes to change into after the race.

We meet at the end of the road on the rocky ledge above the running track at Svangaskarð.
