Friday
The participants met at the badminton hall at 18:30 on Friday evening. The first training session was already on the programme at 19:00. It started with a 3 km warm-up from the badminton hall out to Grøv and then to Vágsheygagøta, where the “fartlek” began. They ran from the fire station up Vágsheygagøta, some 310-315 metres, at high speed, and then jogged down Uppsalagøta and back to the fire station, which was about 480 metres. Four laps were run, a total of 3.15 km. The cool-down was 2 kilometres. The weather during the session was as good as you could imagine at this time of year.

Refuelling at the breakfast table
Saturday
The day began with breakfast at 8:00 and then rest until 10:00, when an easy 7-kilometre run was on the programme. The route was a so-called “figure 8”, which is a route around the town. This run went off well, even though it started to rain. The afternoon was about getting some rest before the next hard session.
At 17:30 in the afternoon there was training again. This time the warm-up went from Kjalarvegur out to Grøv, where three short strides were run past the cemetery, before everyone finished on the road down in Grøv. The warm-up was about 2.5 km long. Then came 5 x 400m intervals on the road from Grøv to the tunnel road. The recovery was to jog back and then stop for some 10-20 seconds before the next interval. The cool-down this time was 1.2 km straight home. Once again the session was completed in the most beautiful weather.
After everyone had showered and eaten a good dinner from Ingun, Hallur had a chat with each participant about various things and their individual plans for the future.

An unusual sight in Klaksvík. 8 stylish runners.

Sunday
On Sunday morning breakfast was at 7:30, followed by a light session at 9:00. The run went from Kjalarvegur north to Ánir, where there was a short stretching break, before running back home. A run of a good 6 kilometres. After that everyone went to the swimming pool to swim and change. At 12:30 everyone had a good Sunday lunch, and at 15:00 everyone went home.

Everyone agreed that a good weekend in Klaksvík had come to an end, and hoped that a similar training camp would happen again soon.
