The Grand Prix competition for children and young people is about to begin

Machine-translated from Faroese and not yet reviewed. Read the original.

As last year, FÍF will organise a Grand Prix competition on the track for children and young people. This year there will be 5 evenings of competition, with Bragdið and Treysti each hosting two meets and Hvirlan hosting one. The first meet will be on Thursday 27 May, hosted by Bragdið.

Although there will be 5 competition evenings this year, the total number of events will stay the same. This means there will be fewer events on each evening. The plan is for the meets to start at 18:30 and last no longer than an hour and a half each time, so that those who have a long drive can also get home at a reasonable hour.

The events will also be almost the same. A new high jump mat has arrived at Tórsbreyt, so high jump will be a new event in the Grand Prix, but only for the 12–13 age group and older.

Otherwise the overall competition will be organised so that all groups compete on 3 evenings in sprints, 3 evenings in throws, 3 evenings in jumps and 3 evenings in middle-distance running. Points will be awarded for each result according to the Norwegian Tyrvingtabellen. There will be a winner in each age group and each event group, namely the athlete with the highest combined points from their two best competitions.

The competition is open to everyone who is interested. However, points will only be awarded to participants who are members of an athletics club. All athletes are also required to compete in a singlet/T-shirt in their correct club colours. The meets will be free of charge.

Rules for the competition, the competition schedule and a link to the Tyrvingtabellen are on the front page under “reglur” (rules).

Because start lists will be posted on the website before each meet, it will be necessary to register in good time. The deadline has therefore been set for the Sunday evening before the meet. Registration will be made available here on the site on the first day, and then you just need to register by Sunday evening at the latest.
