On Sunday 5 September, Bragdið will organise the annual Tórshavn Marathon. This is the eighth year in a row that Bragdið has organised the Tórshavn Marathon. The race is also the Faroese Championships in the marathon for the open category for women and men (b. 1900–1992), the veteran category for men (b. 1955–1964), the veteran category for women (b. 1900–1964) and the super-veteran category for men (b. 1900–1954)
The age groups in the Tórshavn Marathon are not the same as those for the Faroese Championships. Here the categories are 18–39 years for women and men (b. 1971–1992), men 40–49 years (b. 1961–1970), women 40+ (b. 1970 or earlier) and men 50+ (b. 1960 or earlier)
It will also be possible to run a half marathon, 5.5 km and 2.2 km on the day. The latter two distances are part of the Health Run, which Bragdið organises together with Tórshavn Municipality and SMS. The half marathon has almost the same age groups as the marathon. The only difference is that the men’s 40–49 category is dropped.
From Friday 3 September until race day on Sunday 5 September, Bragdið will have a stand together with the Public Health Council in the square at SMS. Here you can register for both the races and the Health Run. It will also be possible to register for all the races and the Health Run here on the website.
