Rain, hail, sleet and wind. But also dry spells and sunshine. A weather cocktail of the very finest kind greeted the hardy winter runners this morning, when round 2 of the Winter Series (VK2) was run in Tórshavn and Hoydalar. In the men’s open class Treysti dominated and swept the medals. As expected, Marnar Djurhuus won, but right on his heels came the in-form Marnar Pattinson, with Borgar Biskopstø just behind.

This was a well-organised race by Bragdið, but it was Treysti who went home with the most. Marnar won gold in the men’s juniors and Borgar took gold in the veterans. In addition, Rebekka Fuglø won both the women’s juniors and the women’s open class. In the open class Durita á Lofti finished 2nd and Ella Áarstein 3rd. Ella Áarstein won gold in the women’s veterans, with Ann Thomsen and Karin K. Petersen in the next places.

In the boys’ class, too, a Yellow ended up on the top step of the podium. Just like last time, it was Gunnar Sivertsen who won. Steingrímur Hallsson was 2nd and Rani Dalsgarð 3rd. It should be added that Teitur Bjarnastein, who was set to win the boys’ class, chose to run with the adults.

The only gold medals Treysti did not take back north with them were in the girls’ and super-veterans’ classes. In the girls’ class it was once again Sára Debesardóttir who managed to keep Oddvør Josephsen and Rutt Gregersen behind her, and in the super veterans it was once again Jens Lyn Weihe who repeated his win from the first round. Here Jóannes Ortind and Gunnar Simonsen were 2nd and 3rd.

So Treysti went back north with seven of the new gold medals today, but we Blues will surely come back strong!
