We are now changing the official name of the website to www.fif.fo. For technical reasons, however, the main domain name will continue to be www.athletics.fo. No doubt many people have been using www.renn.fo, and that will still be possible in the future.
There are several reasons for the change. Renn.fo could seem to discriminate against the other two disciplines within athletics, jumps and throws. And athletics.fo can also be tricky to spell. The main reason, however, is that it makes FÍF a little more visible. Most of the other sports federations use their abbreviations as their website names, and we think this is entirely natural for us too.
In itself, the change has no practical consequence other than that, from now on, we will refer to the site as fif.fo both in writing and in everyday speech, and we hope that regular users of the site will do the same.
