Next Saturday sees the start of the Track Grand Prix, which FÍF organises together with the clubs. The competition will be organised in the same way as last year, i.e. three meets, all of which will be held at the Tórsbreyt track. Compared with previous years, the time between the rounds is considerably shorter this time, and all three rounds will be completed before the summer holidays begin. The rounds are as follows:

1. Saturday 25 May, 11:00, Bragdið
2. Saturday 8 June, 11:00, Hvirlan
3. Friday 21 June, 18:30, Treysti

The plan is then to finish with an “Afterparty” on Saturday 22 June, where all the awards will also be presented.

On Saturday at 11:00 it is Bragdið who will be organising, and the events will be as follows:

  • Men: 100 m, 1,000 m, triple jump and discus
  • Women: 100 m, 1,000 m, triple jump and discus
  • Boys 18-19: 100 m, 1,000 m, triple jump and discus
  • Girls 18-19: 100 m, 1,000 m, triple jump and discus
  • Boys 16-17: 100 m, 1,000 m, triple jump and discus
  • Girls 16-17: 100 m, 1,000 m, triple jump and discus
  • Boys 14-15: 100 m, 1,000 m, triple jump and discus
  • Girls 14-15: 100 m, 1,000 m, triple jump and discus
  • Boys 12-13: 100 m, 600 m, high jump and discus
  • Girls 12-13: 100 m, 600 m, high jump and discus
  • Boys 10-11: 100 m, 600 m, high jump and ball throw
  • Girls 10-11: 100 m, 600 m, high jump and ball throw
  • Boys 8-9: 60 m, 600 m, long jump and ball throw
  • Girls 8-9: 60 m, 600 m, long jump and ball throw
  • Children 5-7: 60 m

Once again this year, the adults will be part of the Grand Prix. The competition format is organised in the same way, so that each age group has four different events: a sprint, a middle-distance race, a throw and a jump. The points system is unchanged, and once again this year No. 1 in each event gets 10 points, No. 2 gets 9 points, and so on. Whoever has the most points after the three rounds will be the overall winner. All three rounds count. The very youngest – ages 5-7 – will also get to try one event each time. This is, however, outside the Grand Prix.

You can now register for the competitions here on the site.

The registration deadline is Tuesday evening 21 May at 24:00. No entries will be accepted after this. Not even on the day!
