On the night between Saturday 15 June and Sunday 16 June 2013, Suðuroy 25k will be held for the second time. The 2013 course runs from Trongisvágur to Vágur, west to Vágseiði, and the route goes over Hovsegg. The deadline to register for this unusual running event is midnight on Friday evening. As last year, Suðuroy 25K is arranged so that you can leave Tórshavn on the Smyril on Saturday evening at 21:00 and travel back north the next morning at 08:30.
On arrival at Krambatangi, transport to Trongisvágur will be provided. You can then change in the new clubhouse at Stórá. Those coming from elsewhere can also wait in the clubhouse, which is cosy and spacious, or enjoy the pleasant surroundings around the pitch until two o’clock, when the run starts. The organisers will drive the changes of clothes south to Vágshøll, where Suðuroy 25K finishes. When the run is over, soup will be served, and after that the event is over.
Those who plan to travel back north on the Smyril on Sunday morning at 08:30 can pay an extra DKK 50 when registering, and transport north to Krambatangi will be provided after Suðuroy 25K finishes (runners, or their clubs, must arrange a berth on board the Smyril with SSL themselves – the night crew on board handles bookings) Registration for Suðuroy 25k is at www.renn.fo – and the deadline is midnight on Friday evening. The organisers have decided to limit the number of participants to a maximum of 100 runners. Read more about Suðuroy 25K on the website www.runatnight.info
Quite a lot of people took part in the first Suðuroy 25 K in 2012.
