Course for recreational running coaches

Machine-translated from Faroese and not yet reviewed. Read the original.

Over the past year the clubs have organised more and more group running sessions. All six of our clubs now hold organised group running sessions. Several individuals have taken on the job of organising them, and this has been very welcome. Some of them have long experience in running, while others have thrown themselves into it and tried to make the most of it. And it is encouraging to follow on the various Facebook pages how people are trying to keep things going.

Last year Dansk Atletikforbund began organising special courses for recreational running coaches, tailored specifically to those who take responsibility for a group. Last year FÍF tried to get a course leader to come over here, but it was not possible for them at the time. Now, however, it has worked out. We have made an agreement with David Møller, who is a recreational running consultant at DAF, to come to the Faroe Islands on the weekend of 16–17 November to hold a course for our recreational running coaches. The final programme is not ready yet, but will be announced here next week. We can, however, expect to work for about six hours on both days (Saturday and Sunday) while it is light. The course includes both practical and theoretical instruction.

Topics covered on the course include:

  • Varied running training
  • Interval training
  • Strength training
  • Injury prevention
  • Improving your running technique
  • Learning to put together a training session
  • Finding your own role as a leader

The course will be free of charge. Registration will be opened on Friday, and at FÍF we hope that everyone interested will come forward. David Møller, who has himself run at a fairly high level and has also been a coach for many years, is looking forward to coming to the Faroe Islands for the first time and meeting you all 🙂

As you can see, David Møller (498) isn’t afraid to take the lead – even over the Faroese… 😉
