Very successful coaching course

Machine-translated from Faroese and not yet reviewed. Read the original.

On Saturday and Sunday FÍF organised a course for recreational running coaches. The course was held at the ÍSF building in Tórshavn, and there were 22 participants. Coaches from all six clubs took part, which we at FÍF are very pleased about.

The course leader was David Møller from Dansk Atletikforbund. He currently works for DAF, where he is mainly responsible for “MotionDANMARK”, which was set up in 2011 with the aim of giving Danes the best knowledge and inspiration for training and exercise, and of bringing them into athletics clubs.

On both days, parts of the course took place outdoors despite the weather, with running on the Tórsbreyt track, at Ovari Vøllur and in Plantasjan. Most of the sessions were organised so that they were social, so that everyone could take part regardless of ability and fitness level, and with what is very important and a really big part of the whole thing: HAVING FUN .

The topics of the course were:

– Running technique (indoors), practical. How do you get the best possible technique?
– Running and strength training
– Injuries and injury prevention
– The role of the coach
– Intensive training. Training principles were explained during the session.
– Runner types and motivation (how can the running club get even better?)
– Aerobic training (outdoors), practical.
– Planning a training programme. How do we work, and when do we do what?

The course participants were all very pleased and went home to their clubs and athletes with lots of new inspiration. Hopefully the course has given all the coaches good and better tools for their coaching toolbox.

Below are some photos from the course:
