Standings in the TF Winter Series ahead of round 6 at Fossánes

Machine-translated from Faroese and not yet reviewed. Read the original.

Here are all the standings in the TF Winter Series ahead of the sixth round, which will be held at Fossánes on Saturday morning. In the individual competition the best five rounds count, plus any bonus points, while in the team competition all the rounds count. The rules for the TF Winter Series can be found under the “Rules” tab above.

As can be seen, some competitions have already been decided, but in other cases nothing at all has been decided yet, and probably nothing will be settled until after the eighth and final round.

Men open class (-1997)
Here Marnar Djurhuus has already secured the win, but there is a lot of excitement over the next places, because Sam Vang, Henry Olsen, Hallur Holm and Eirikur Hansen have not yet run five rounds.

Men veterans 1959-1968

Nothing has been decided yet in this class, but Henry Olsen, who has won all four rounds he has run, is best placed. By winning one more round, he will secure the win. His closest rival is Hallur Holm, who has finished right behind Henry in the rounds they have both taken part in. But things could get very exciting between the two of them. Third place currently belongs to Jóhan M. Jacobsen, but he faces stiff competition from Guttorm Sørensen, and also from Heini Gregersen, who has run four rounds. Súni Jacobsen, who has so far run only two rounds, also has a chance of reaching third place. So in this class there is still plenty of tension in the air.

Women veterans
1959-1968

In this class Ann Thomsen has won all four rounds she has run, and one more win will secure her the overall victory. Astrid Joensen is very well placed to secure second place. Anna Sofía Eysturoy currently holds third place after taking part in five races, but she faces competition from Anna Maria Seloy and Elisabeth Larsen, who have run four races. Hergerð Heldarskarð and Karin Kirke Petersen, who have run only two races, could also reach third place if things go well for them.

Men super veterans -1958
Nobody here can do anything about a dominant Jens R. Weihe, who has already secured the win. The battle for the next places is between Gunnar Simonsen and Jóhannes Ortind, who have completed every round so far. But Jósvein Herup Olsen, with three races, and Pól Sundskarð, with two, can still reach second and third place.

Girls
1998-2002

There is great tension here between Maria Biskopstø and Oddvør Josephsen, who have won three and two rounds respectively. If both of them win four rounds and finish second in four, they will end up exactly level after eight rounds. And that could well happen. Third place looks set to go to Elin Kristina Ryan, but Rutt Gregersen still has a chance of taking it.

Team competition, men
For the first time, a team competition is being held in the Winter Series. Unlike the individual competition, where five rounds count, all the rounds count in the team competition. The team is made up of the three runners from a club with the most individual points. To be part of a team, an athlete must have completed at least five rounds.

At Bragdið some runners have missed races, so changes can be expected in who makes up the teams as the competition goes on.

It is costly for a team if a runner “misses” a round. On the Treysti team, all three have a “full house” so far, and this is also reflected in the points table compared with Bragdið, where there are currently two runners who have each “missed” a round. As things stand after five rounds, Treysti 1 can be expected to win, but a lot can happen over three rounds. So it will be a contest between Treysti 1 and Bragdið 1 for first and second place. Bragdið 2 is best placed to take third place, but they face competition, especially from Roysnið 1. But as mentioned earlier, it costs a lot if runners “miss” a round, so changes may well occur.

Team competition, women
Judging by how things have gone, major changes can hardly be expected in the women’s team competition. But there are still plenty of points left to compete for, so changes may well happen.
