The days are getting longer and brighter, and Flag Day is approaching, and with it the annual Flag Day Run, which this year is the 28th edition. As usual, Bragdið is organising the race, which this year has been moved down to Kongabrúgvin.

The race starts at 16:00, straight after the Flag Day ceremony on Vaglið. Children and adults, experienced and inexperienced, will be trying their hand, and companies will be competing.

The route is roughly the same, with one change: we now start at Kongabrúgvin and run a little further out towards the helipad compared with previous years. The adults’ course is just under 7 km (the same length as previous years). The children run 500 or 1000 m. Medals will be awarded to the top three in each children’s and adults’ category. The winners in the children’s and adults’ races will also receive a good prize. In addition, there is a prize draw for good prizes among all participants. Prizes in the draw must be collected on the spot, otherwise a new draw will be made until a winner comes forward.

The fun run is well suited to those who would like to walk and run without competing. Mums, dads, grandmothers, grandfathers, godmothers, uncles – indeed all adults who fancy getting some exercise. There is no timing for this category, and participants choose for themselves whether to walk/run 3.5 or 6.9 km.

The categories are as follows:

Girls and boys born (2005 and later) – 500 m
Girls and boys born (2003-2004) – 1000 m
Girls and boys born (2001-2002) – 1000 m
Women and men, open category, born (-2000) – 6.9 km
Women and men, veterans (1959-1968) – 6.9 km
Women and men, super veterans (-1958) – 6.9 km
Fun run, adults (-2000) – 3.5 or 6.9 km

Children pay DKK 40 and adults pay DKK 80, and payment is online.

As well as being an individual competition, the Flag Day Run is also a competition between companies, institutions and the like, known as the company race. Here too there is a good gift voucher for the winners. A team can consist of 3-5 runners of the same sex. Read more about the company race here.

Registration for the Flag Day Run is via Bragdið’s website, and the link to registration for the various categories is here: Bragdið’s registration page for the Flag Day Run
