Run for the Breasts

Machine-translated from Faroese and not yet reviewed. Read the original.

“Come and run for the breasts” is the name of an event organised by Bót til Bata on Saturday 25 October in Klaksvík, with Treysti in charge of the running event.

Every year, Krabbameinsfelagið’s Bót til Bata raises awareness of breast cancer in the Faroe Islands, and this year is no exception. Last year the event was held in the KÍ hall, but this year it has moved to the main hall at Ósáskúlin.

The event starts at Ósáskúlin in Klaksvík on 25 October at 13:00, where Bót til Bata, together with Treysti among others, is organising a family run from Ósáskúlin.

The Bót til Bata group is made up of women who have been affected by breast cancer. The group’s aim is to help women who have or have had breast cancer.

It means a great deal to the person affected and to their family to have someone to talk to when the illness strikes. If you need to get in touch with one of these women, please call tel. 317959.

A little about the charity run

Even though not everything is in place yet, you should mark 25 October in your calendar, because that is when we will “Support the breasts and run along”, and we want everyone to take part. Women and men, young and old.

The run starts at 14:00, from Ósáskúlin in Klaksvík. There are two distances to choose from, 2 km or 5 km. The event itself starts at 13:00 and finishes at around 17:00.

The programme for the event is as follows:
13:00 Doors open
13:30 Opening with Turið Horn and joint warm-up with Helga Johansen
13:55 Move to the start
14:00 The run starts
15:00 Various activities
– Health check: blood sugar, blood pressure, lung capacity
– Krabbameinsfelagið and Bót til bata
15:00 Music
15:30 A representative of Team Rynkeby Føroyar talks about the tour
16:00 Line dancing

You can register here. The entry fee is DKK 100 for adults and DKK 50 for children, but if you would like to support Bót til Bata, you are more than welcome to add one or more donations of DKK 100. If you want to support the cause, you can also do so simply by registering. You do not have to run/walk at all!

It will also be possible to register at Ósáskúlin just before the run.

All the money raised, both entry fees and donations, goes in full to the Bót til Bata group.

NB: Online registration can only be paid by Dankort!
