Hallur Holm of Bragdið and Rebekka Fuglø of Treysti won the men’s and women’s open categories respectively when Treysti hosted round 6 of the TF Winter Series (VK-6) in Fossánes today. The course is only about 7.3 kilometres long, but it is a tough route. Runners complete four laps in the area around the school in Fossánes. Turnout was good, with around 60 runners on the start line, even though the forecast had promised a fair amount of wind. The weather turned out to be considerably better, though it has to be said that runners fear neither wind nor rain.

Hallur set off at a furious pace and opened a gap early on. By the start of the next lap, however, Marnar Pattinson, who was having a good day, was right behind him, with Rúni Seloy just a fraction further back. There was then a gap back to Jan Elmar Sørensen, who took part even though he was not fully fit, and right behind him came Julian Gregersen. The pace at the front was fierce, and in the end Hallur (28:40) won ahead of Rúni (28:52) and Marnar (29:03). The next few were also fairly close together: Jan Elmar (29:14) finished fourth, followed by Julian (29:25) and Teitur (29:33).

Hallur Holm won today ahead of Rúni Seloy and Marnar Pattinson

In the women’s race Rebekka Fuglø (35:28) came out on top, followed by Duruta Reginsdóttir á Lofti (35:53) and Beinta Hoydal Joensen (36:24). The three were fairly evenly matched for quite a long time.

The men’s super veteran category was won by Jens R. Weihe, followed by Pól Sundskarð and Jóannes Ortind. Sunneva Olsen once again won the women’s super veteran category. Jóngerð Herup Olsen was second and Jessie Hansen third.

The junior men’s category was won by Rúni Seloy. Julian Gregersen was second, while Teitur Bjarnastein came third.

In the girls’ race Maria Biskopstø, Oddvør Josephsen and Elin Kristina Ryan made it a Treysti clean sweep. Gunnar Sivertsen won the boys’ category ahead of Hans Erland Thomsen and Dánjal Dahl Ljósheim.

After the race Treysti served soup, coffee/tea and cake at the school in Fossánes, where the mayor of Hvannasund Municipality, Katrin Næs, presented the medals.
