Faroese Half Marathon Championships on Saturday. Registration closes tonight!

Machine-translated from Faroese and not yet reviewed. Read the original.

Treysti is once again organising the Eik Half Marathon in Klaksvík this year. It also serves as the Faroese Half Marathon Championships. There will be two new Faroese champions in the open categories, because last year’s winners, Marnar Djurhuus and Rebekka Fuglø, are not taking part this year. Marnar has stopped running for the time being, while Rebekka is preparing for the Island Games in Jersey, where she will run the 800m and 1,500m. In the women’s race, Marna Egholm, who has twice run under 1 hour 20 minutes this year, has entered, and she is therefore the big favourite to win. The men’s race is more open, but strong candidates to contend for the top places are Henry Olsen and Sam Vang. Henry recently ran a marathon and Sam has had a minor injury, which opens the door for other good runners, such as Martin Gravesen, Marnar Pattinson, Cecil Weihe, Jan Elmar Sørensen and young Julian Gregersen. All of them have run well in the Winter Series.

More information about the event below

This is a so-called city half marathon, as it is run entirely within the town, on a 7 km loop. As well as the half marathon, there will also be a 7 km fun run and a children’s race. The start and finish will be outside Eik. The half marathon is run three times out to Bumshamar and north to Kósin to turn.

The fun run is one lap of this route. The children’s race is one lap around “Lítla Eið”, which is just under 700m.

The half marathon course is DAF-approved. To take part in the half marathon you must be born in 1998 or earlier. To take part in the Faroese Championships you must be a member of a club under FÍF. Although this is the Faroese Championships, it is also an open race in which everyone can take part.
