Faroese Youth Championships on 12 and 13 September

Machine-translated from Faroese and not yet reviewed. Read the original.

The Faroese Youth Championships are now fast approaching. In recent years they have been the biggest competition in athletics. The championships will be held on the Tórsbreyt track next Saturday and Sunday, organised by FÍF together with the clubs. The competition is so big that it runs over two days. The age groups and events are similar to previous years, although some field events alternate from one year to the next. The two oldest age groups have a final round with three extra attempts.

The age groups and events in 2015 are as follows:

Girls and boys 8-9 (2006-07): 60m, 400m, long jump, ball throw and shot put
Girls and boys 10-11 (2004-05): 60m, 300m, 600m, long jump, ball throw and shot put
Girls and boys 12-13 (2002-03): 80m, 300m, 600m, long jump, high jump, shot put and javelin
Girls and boys 14-15 (2000-01): 100m, 300m, 800m, long jump, high jump, shot put and javelin
Girls and boys 16-17 (1998-99): 100m, 400m, 800m, long jump, triple jump, discus and hammer
Girls and boys 18-19 (1996-97): 100m, 400m, 800m, long jump, triple jump, discus and hammer

The following relays will also be held.

On Saturday there will be a 4×100 metres relay for these age groups:
– girls and boys 10-11
– girls and boys 12-13
– girls and boys 14-19

On Sunday there will be a mixed 4×200 relay, with two girls and two boys, for these age groups: 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15

If a club does not have enough athletes for a full team in these races, it can bring in younger athletes from the club. However, athletes may only move up one age group and may only help out once each day. A team may include no more than two athletes from a younger age group.

On Saturday the competition starts at 10:00 and runs until about 14:00. On Sunday it begins with a parade at 12:30, followed by the start of competition at 13:00. Everything is expected to finish at about 17:00.

In all sprint events, the heats will be held on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.

REGISTRATION
Registration takes place on the FÍF website and must be completed by Sunday evening 6 September at 24:00. The fee is DKK 30 per registered start, and the invoice will be sent to the clubs. Late entries can be made until Tuesday 8 September at 18:00, but the fee is then 5 × the entry fee (i.e. DKK 150). Relays do not need to be entered in advance. They will be dealt with on the day of competition.

OFFICIALS AND HELPERS
An event this big also needs a lot of officials and helpers. There is a registration form for them on the website, where you can say when you are available to officiate or help out. There are four time slots to choose from, and you are free to choose one, two, three or all four of them:

10:00-12:00 Saturday
12:00-14:00 Saturday
13:00-15:00 Sunday
15:00-17:00 Sunday

We aim to publish the start lists and the timetable on Wednesday evening.
