TF VK-7 in Vágur on Saturday

Machine-translated from Faroese and not yet reviewed. Read the original.

On Saturday morning at 11:00, round 7 of the TF Winter Series (VK7), which is also the penultimate round, will be run in Vágur, organised by Hvistan.hvistan-kapping

This year’s course will be different from previous years, but very varied, so Hvistan expects a good outing and a good race. The start will be out west on Eiðið, and the route runs past Vatnið and out to Tríkanturin (on Sandurin), across Sandurin and then west along Laksá. On returning west to Vatnið, runners will go once round Vatnið and then uphill all the way to Vatnbrunnurin above the village; the climb is about 1.2 km. From the top there is a downhill run into the village, before a short climb up to Geilin, which runs on the flat right through the village. At the end of Geilin the route turns uphill onto the cultivation road, also known as Nervavegurin, which is made of gravel, small stones and grass, and this road runs all the way west to Viðarlundin, interrupted only by a gully. Once past Viðarlundin to the west, the route goes downhill, and when we come back down onto the road where we went out to Geilin, we pick up the trail we came on and head back west to Vágseiðið.

The course for the race is around 10 km, because we run an extra lap round Vatnið.

The route can be seen at this link: Route TF VK-7 Vágur

The race will be held in the following TF VK categories, and all categories start together at 11:00.

– Women / men open category (b. 1999 or earlier) – around 10 km
– Women veterans / men veterans (b. 1961-1970) – around 10 km
– Women/men super veterans (b. 1960 or earlier) – around 10 km
– Junior women / junior men (b. 1995-1999) – around 10 km
– Girls / boys (b. 2000-2004) – around 3-4 km

Bib number collection and changing will be at Ítróttarhøllin from 10:00. Registration is on www.fif.fo until Friday evening 11 March at 22:00. Online registration costs DKK 50 for adults and DKK 20 for children. You can also register on the day no later than 10:45, but then the cost is DKK 100 for adults and DKK 50 for children. Hvistan hopes to see many athletes – including those who may not have taken part in the Winter Series before – as this is also a lovely day out.

Changing rooms and showers will be at Ítróttarhøllin, where there will also be some refreshments after the race.

The prize-giving will be at Hotel Bakkin in Vágur at 14:00. Lunch can also be ordered by writing to finn@vilt.fo or by sending Finn Johannessen a message on Facebook.
