Once again this year, the people at Bragdið are ready and willing to organise the Ólavsøka Run. This will be the 31st edition of the race. Bragdið has sent the following press release:

Welcome to the Ólavsøka Run 2016
“Ólavsøka comes but once a year,” we sing, and for us at Bragdið the Ólavsøka Run also comes only once a year!
For several years we have been based down at Skálatrøð, where the start is, and that is also the case this year. The route goes out to Bakki, past the cosy cafés, where it is very spectator-friendly, even if it can seem a bit cramped. It is flat and good for running, with just one small hill out at Skálatrøð. The adults’ course is 5 km, and the children run from 430 metres to 1.3 km, depending on their age group.
We always look forward to the Ólavsøka Run. People come from towns and villages alike, and for many, Ólavsøka begins with the race. Faroese living abroad are also keen to enter, and as the years go by we see the next generation coming along to run. And there is often a surprise or two, some star, young or old, who stands out.
Registration is open. Go to bragdid.fo or renn.fo and register! The sooner you register, the easier it is for us to prepare. And it pays to register before the deadline, which is 26 July at 18:00, because the price goes up for registration on the day.
Bib numbers must be collected at Skeiva pakkhús on Høga kai from 16:00 to 17:30! The adults’ race starts at 18:00, and the first children’s group is scheduled to run at 18:40.

If the weather is good, we will hand out the medals outdoors; otherwise we will go back inside Skeiva pakkhús.
We warmly welcome you to the Ólavsøka Run.
