On Saturday 7 November, round 2 of the MBM Winter Series (VK2) 2026–27 will be run in Sandur. Tindar and Bragdið are organising, and as last year, we are also inviting children and recreational runners to take part.
The start and finish are by the sports hall in Sandur, and the race begins at 10:00.
The Winter Series route is just under 9 km. First, runners go a short way up into Traðardalur to turn, then along Sandsvatn and out onto Eystanvegur, where we turn left and run over to Visit Sandur. There we turn and run the same way back towards the finish, but without going up into Traðardalur again. The course is relatively flat, with only about 73 metres of climb in total.
The children run a route of about 500 metres, and the recreational runners run or walk about 5 km.
Changing rooms and showers are available, and afterwards we offer refreshments while the medals are presented.
Rógvi and Bjørk lead
Rógvi Kárason and Bjørk Herup Olsen won the first round in Havnardalur, so they both lead the Winter Series as the competition moves to Sandoy. Last year the Winter Series began in Sandur on the same route, and the winners then were Torbjørn Hentze in 32:04 and Maria Chun Nielsdóttir in 39:10.
Registration
Everyone can take part, and you do not need to be a member of a running club. Registration costs DKK 100 for adults and DKK 50 for children and is paid on registration. Registration closes on Friday 6 November at 22:00. It is also possible to register on site on Saturday from 9:00 to 9:30, but registration then costs DKK 150 and must be paid in cash.
To count in the points standings, runners must be registered members of an FÍF club before race day or have received an exemption from FÍF.
See you in Sandur!
